Sean Quigley - Little Drummer Boy*, 2,378,369 hist on youtube.

Leanne, the person mainly responsible for this blog and my very first subscriber, sent me this video last January and all I can say is that it's one of the best version of this classic. She also provided the following information about both the young artist and Winnipeg.

Sean Quigley a home grown church going Canadian from the Charleswood area of Winnipeg made this video with his sister during the first snowfall of 2011. She held the camera, he told her what to do. His friends from school are holding the signs. The video and music editing was made by him in his basement... The results, stunning! 

As Leanne pointed out, notice the Canada mitts, nothing says Canadian like that!

A bit of history...

The bridge you can see him walk on in the video is in St-Boniface at La Fourche, the French part of the city. It goes over where the Assiniboine and Red River meet. A historical area, it was originally the Red River Colony and an early Hudson's Bay Company trading area. French, English and Aboriginals traded together and worked together. Louis Riel's grave is located at St-Boniface's Cathedral.

A Canadian Classic...

If you would like to discover a Canadian Classic, have a look at this post from Beauty Reflections. The Huron Carol she writes about, I grew up with it but in French and it's quite different. I actually had to concentrate a minute there to recognise this soft and poignant version. Once I did I was blown away. She posted the video where you can hear Tom Jackson sing it, believe me, it's worth a look.
