Estée Lauder DayWear BB / Review...

Tired of having to apply tons of powder to reduce the shine caused by my morning moisturizer and not wanting to fuss with foundation I figured I would try a BB!

Some SA's are way too important for their own good...

Originally I wanted to get Dior's but I was snubbed at the counter!!! T-shirt, Capri pants and flip flops (Chanel Taboo on my toes) apparently aren't good enough for some sales assistants on a super hot Saturday after noon! I turned around and there was Estée Lauder's counter. Guess what? I wasn't snubbed there! Oh and this wasn't even a big downtown counter either.

Estée Lauder's DayWear BB Multi-Perfecting Beauty Benefit Creme SPF 35. Wow that can be a mouthful!!! I tried it on my arm and liked the texture and the color match was nice so I bought it in 01 Light.

Since this is my first BB creme I can't really compare it to others but I have tried a few on my arm. For instance, Clarins was too dark and Vichy felt too thick and looked too matte. I tried a couple drugstore brands like Revlon and Rimmel and didn't like them much.

How do I use it?

Estée Lauder's DayWear BB is on the thick side, thicker than a regular foundation. When applying it to skin one has to be quick about it. Spreading and blending, it penetrates in no time leaving a matte finish. I do have to use a dry sponge to make it appear invisible but it's not as laborious as with a foundation.

How does it perform?

If you have dryish skin you may want to either skip this or consider using a moisturizer underneath. It is moisturizing but I know that come October I won't be able to use it on it's own, if I have any left in the tube, more particularly on my cheeks. At the moment I'm more on the oily side, especially on my t-zone. My face truly is less shiny wearing this BB and it covers the mild redness on my cheeks quite nicely. I wouldn't rely on it for UV protection if I were to spend longer periods of time outdoors but for my current needs it's pretty good.

Would I recommend Estée Lauder DayWear BB? Yes.

For this time of year it's a great no nonsense product to use in the morning. I like it when it's fast and this is since the color match is pretty good.

I've been wearing it for a little over a week now and although I would like it to be a little less matte, it's comfortable to wear and I kid you not but I feel my skin is slightly softer! Huh? This is the only new skin care item I've been using so I guess it does have some benefits as per the packaging.

The only downside, the price! $45.00 for 30 ml ($3.00 less than Dior for the same amount) but it should last until October and it's one product instead of two, meaning day cream and foundation.

Again, if you have dry skin, you may not be able to use this on it's own. For review purposes I will likely try others but this one, if not for this here blog, I would definitely repurchase. Who doesn't like a fast and easy one step good looking skin result in the morning? Hope that made sense!

Oh and I barely need powder now! Just a light dusting to make my bronzer go on evenly. :)

As you can imagine, swatches where, again, out of the question and I must say that the tube was a little hard to photograph given it's shiny finish. I'm doing the best I can guys, I swear! :)

As with any new skin care item, if you have sensitive skin or are acne and/or clog prone do patch test first and never try more than one new product at a time. That way if there is a problem you'll be able to get rid of the culprit.

The list of ingredients is INSANE!!! This was taken from Makeup Alley. Hopefully it's accurate since I didn't take the time to double check with my box.

Hey Helene, so sorry to hear the Dior counter wasn't friendly! SAs play such a big part in purchase decisions. I wish all companies knew that! It sounds like a great choice for summer! I need to review my Double Wear Light soon since come autumn it won't be good for many!

Oh Sunny that's ok. I just found it kind of funny and I do believe at one point I was probably like that for a liitle while. *hides*
I'm very happy with it and only wish I had purchased it sooner since it was so hot here. :)

Oh, I've had this happen to me at Bloomindales. The sales assoc was with another customer, but she didn't give me - not one ounce of acknowledgement. I think I ended up at Estee Lauder for their Double Wear foundation ;-) Had no problem getting assistance.

LoL, no .. I was wearing my usually weekend outfit - jeans, t-shirt, tennis shoes. I guess my outfit said I wasn't worthy of Dior, but my wallet says otherwise :-)

Silly sales person... Anyway, I don't think I will ever become a BB fan. I feel too naked with it.

A naked Melissa wouldn't be a good thing! LOL! For me, considering I've been wearing only powder for a long time, I like this since it's just enough to cover the redness I have. :)

Hi Icaria,
I found this review very helpful! I have never tried any Estee Lauder base product, and this sounds good to be used in a humid weather city like Singapore :)

Hey Lovely thank you! The first day I wore it I had to mow the lawn. After 30 min I was a sweatty mess but didn't touch my face. I cooled down, patted gently and the finish was still good! Just this made it pass the test. For me it performed way better than any foundation under those conditions so I guess it would be worth a try for you. :)

I know Joyce, sometime one would think the SAs own the counters! It's a nice product and although the texture is a little thick it gives decent natural coverage, just enough for me. :)
