Clinique High Impact Mascara...

I don't know why I practically discarded this mascara a few years back! I thought it didn't hold the curl and so I used the small sizes I had for the tips of my lashes. I received a new mini in my latest Clinique gift with purchase and figured why not give it another chance?

Clinique High Impact Mascara...

On the first try I thought it was sticky when I curled my lashes but that was due to the fact I didn't wait long enough for it to dry. On the second, not only did it resist the heat of my hair dryer (I heat my curler, it's the only way my lashes can stay curl all day) but it did keep the curl and stayed pretty true for a good 10 hours!

The formula...

Goes on smoothly, not too wet and not too dry. Not as stiff as Benefit They're Real! but not as soft as Givenchy. So far I haven't had any clumps or flakes and putting it on in the morning is petty much a breeze.

The brush...

As you know I love my brushes! This one works like a charm and compare to my Diorshow Iconic (the one on top on the picture above) you can see that there's more space between the bristles and so it's much easier to apply a second coat. It's your typical boring classic brush but it does the job well and the pointy tip is perfect to reach those pesky little lashes in the inner corners of the eyes.

Do I recommend Clinique High Impact Mascara? Yes.

It's an excellent mid range ($19.00 CAD) mascara that does the job well, covers evenly, keeps the curl all day which for me is a biggie and doesn't flake of fade.

I'm suspecting it might reach HG status because I do believe I will purchase the full size once my Dior is done. How come I didn't like it the first time around? I just don't know why or maybe it's my lashes that have changed who knows? :)

Was there ever a makeup item that you weren't that impressed with at first but were pleased with the second time around?

Hey Helene, I'm glad this works well for you! I can't really come up with any examples now, but I'm pretty sure I have rediscovered stuff that I wasn't impressed with at all in the beginning. I've been wanting to try their bottom lash mascara for a while now. I might order that at some point :)

LOL Sunny I never wear mascara on my bottom lashes but if I did I would surely want to try that one too since it seems to get lots of love! :)
You make me want to try this too now, sounds great!

LOL Monica, it there's one thing I don't plan on revisiting anytime soon it's loose shadows! I'm way too messy! Glad you like them and are better at it then I am. :)
Oh, I received a sample sized mascara from my recent Clinique purchase, and I think it's Lash Impact Volumizing or something like that? I love that really small brush. It's the first time I tried Clinique mascara. I think I'll go back for more :-)

You know......I think I have bought Clinique stuff sometimes when there was gift with purchase just so I could get the mascara---hahahhah. Probably cheaper just to buy it - it is one of my top 3 favs. I love the Clinique lash primer too - the 2 f those together is magic!! Lindaxo

LOL Linda, you're nuts! It sure is cheaper just to get the mascara on it's own but then we do love minis don't we? Nice to know it's on you top 3 list. I believe it will be on mine too. :)

This one Natalie really took me by surprise and the fact that it's less expensive is a big bonus! :)

I have this one, and I quite like it. It's not THE best mascara I have, but I think I'd still put it in my top five.

I agree with you Melissa! I'm not sure it'll be total HG but certainly part of my favorites. :)

I haven't tried Clinique's mascara in so long. I think it used to come in a silver tube. However, I like the look of the brush head. Plus, I think I am going to break down and try your trick for curling my lashes. They are stick straight, and even my new Tarte lash curler isn't enough to keep them curled. One of these days I will try Clinique mascara again. It used to be my go-to mascara. But I've got a whole tube of They're Real, I'm kinda liking Tarte 4-1 mascara, still like CG Lashblast for everyday, and I just bought L'Oreal's Voluminous Butterfly mascara. I'm drowning in mascara lol

Drowning in mascara is good Allison, quite good in my book! If you do try my trick be very careful the first times. heat with the blow dryer but touch your chin with your lash curler first as a temp tester so you don't burn yourself. :)

My beloved Smashbox Bionic, which is no longer produced. :( I thought it was just an expensive mascara that was so-so, but then I used it a few more times and I LOVED it!
