Roger & Gallet Fleur d'Osmanthus Perfumed Beauty Oil...

Twenty years ago or so you could find Roger & Gallet products at the end of some dusty alley in certain department stores practically forgotten at least that was the case in Montreal. Not anymore! In recent years they've regained their status and now have envious placement in most major drugstores. Oh and by the way, some drugstores in Canada are pretty amazing!

Like many of you I've developed a passion for fragrant oils in recent years. Liérac Huile Sensorielle aux Trois Fleurs and Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse (both reviewed here) are favorites of mine and often replace perfume especially on days I stay home. I have a small size of Caudalie Huile Divine reviewed, here, and do like it a lot but that one is for my purse, mainly for hair taming during the day. Ok so that's three. I want more and as much as possible I want them to be affordable. I've tried one of The Body Shop's dry oils, Sweet Lemon, here, and although it's quite nice, the fragrance lasts barely 30 minutes on me and the same goes with Origins Ginger Gloss Smoothing Body Oil, here. The last two are fails and are dying in my shower. I always have to remind myself to use them, to empty them so I can get rid of the bottles.

Roger & Gallet Fleur d'Osmanthus Perfumed Beauty Oil...

Looking for new ones, last spring I stumbled upon a new Roger & Gallet display at my local drugstore. Fleur d'Osmanthus was the first I tried and frankly I fell in love with it. The fragrance, that of this Asian flower I had never heard about before, reminds me of a mixture of mixture of citrus fruits but sweeter. Not surprising since the Osmanthus flower has been described as smelling like mandarin and apricot.

The cost, $34,00 for 100 ml. The glass bottle is easy to hold and the spray is brilliant. Quite similar to Caudalie but with a little more power so be aware if ever you sample it in a store.

The fragrance lasts about five hours on me but if I spray it all over after my shower the fragrance transfers to clothes a little so there is a faint silage that remains even if I can barely smell it on myself. This makes it a very appropriate fragrance for the work place it you don't want to knock down anyone with a strong perfume and it's also perfect for a job interview!

Have you noticed Roger & Gallet products lately?

Hey Helene, I haven't tried anything from this brand, which is VERY weird considering it is everywhere and the stuff does look good! I'll have to take a look at their perfumed oil offerings soon :)

Oh Sunny this one is quite nice & I must say it did take my by surprise. There is another one which is suppose to have an almond fragrance but I haven't seen it yet so maybe you have it in your neck of the woods. :)

Hey Helene, I haven't heard of this brand before! One great thing about reading beauty blogs is that I'm finding out so much more about the big bad world of beauty out there. LOL!

Ikwym Lily, isn't it amazing all the brands out there? Roger & Gallet is a very old house and was the official fournisher to Napoleon. :)

I prefer perfume oils because they last much, much longer on my skin. I often buy the bath oil from a fragrance and use it instead of or in conjunction with the perfume. I have been using Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist bath oil as the base and spray on some of the parfum but it's the oil that lasts. I use the bath oil from Santa Maria Novella, the melangrano, along with the Acqua di Colonia in the same scent to make it last. I just splurged on a fantastic scent by Frederick Malle but it doesn't last. Oh, I wish there was a bath oil to go with it. Like you, I find that the dry oils smell great at first, but don't last. Roger & Gallet isn't usually sold in mainstream drugstores in the US, but there's a boutique that sells R&G soaps and colognes. I will see if they carry the oils that you reviewed. Hopefully, there'll be a scent for me to try!

Oh Allison, to help a fragrance last longer have you tried layering? This can work even if it's not the fragranced body cream. Something thick and super moisturizing like CeraVe or any other you may already own, applied before could do the trick.

Well, usually I layer with a fragrance that has a scented body lotion, then a body oil and then spray parfum. You have reminded me that I should add some of the fragrance to unscented lotion and start with that...but with a super-expensive perfume pouring it into lotion hurts lol. Just spraying the parfum on top of my regular unscented lotion doesn't help so I guess I have no choice. Thanks for the reminder!

Oh honestly this I've never done! I think you just haven't found the right body lotion for you skin's chemistry reason why it doesn't have staying power. If unscented doesn't work, sometimes a thick body creme with a similar scent can make a huge difference as well.

I hate to say it, but this fantastic expensive perfume by Frederick Malle, Musc Ravageur, just isn't right for my body chemistry! But I just love it and paid a fortune for it so I hate to give up lol. I will try spraying it on a tissue and sticking it in my bra and see if that helps lol ;) Thanks for your ideas!
