Braun Silk-épil Elipator...

Spring as almost sprung in Montreal! Almost!

I guess one could say we are two weeks behind because it's still pretty cool outside and most days last week were windy, really windy!

Still it's inevitable, it will warm up (hopefully by July...) and this means that we'll finally be able to wear lighter clothes like Capri pants aaannnddd no socks!!! If there's one article of clothing I hate that's the one!

My skin tone is that of a blond and even thought I'm a brunette with super thick hair I don't have hairy legs. In fact I could tweeze if I wanted to (I've done it a few times in fact) but I got no time for that no more. Underarms are on the normal side so I do have to shave.

I hate shaving! I hate that itchy sensation one gets a few hours after having done it!

Shaving every few days? Don't wanna do that no more!!!

Waxing every few weeks? It gets everywhere, it truly does coz I'm a real klutz!

Needing something fast and easy, for my birthday I got myself this little number...

Braun Silk-épil 3...

I gave myself pain!!!

Ok it ain't that bad but the first time, the first go was a little surprising. It took me about five minutes to do both legs and about the same for both underarms.

Quick, easy and I'm good for two weeks!!!

Yup that baby's a keeper!

Now I know these little gizmo don't work for everyone. For some reason they don't perform well on some hair types but on mine it worked beautifully.

Do I recommend Braun Silk-épil 3? Oh yes!

Spring/summer are at the door and if you don't want to be a slave to your razor or don't want to be annoyed with the mess of wax or depilatory creams this is truly a great option.

I chose this model because of the cord. I know most look for cordless but the batteries will only last a few years. They're made for only a certain number of recharge and after that they have to be replaced. This model will last way longer and will always be ready to use. If I remember correctly Braun Silk-épil 3 is the second least expensive option at about $60 or $70 with taxes. It doesn't have any attachments and I'm good with that since I don't need them.

From the Braun website...

Good for legs, underarms and yes, even the bikini area although I haven't had the courage to use it there yet. I've always used an electric shaver in that area to avoid those pesky red itchy bumps and I just might continue doing that since I don't wear bathing suits often.

I may eventually consider laser for my underarm area but for now I'm good with the Braun Silk-épil 3 and since I don't have super hairy legs, it's perfect for now.

So, what torture method do you use for hair removal?

Hey Helene, I'm glad to hear this is working well for you! I was given quite an old epilator, and that's just what I use. It tugs on the hair a little, but otherwise it does the job well! I need to look into the fancier new ones though!

I shave, but I'm tired of it. Hairs grow back so fast! I was thinking of trying an epilator, but I'm scared of the pain. This one sounds great, though. :)

You know Gio the pain isn't so bad, it's really just those first 20 seconds or so that are surprising. I actually prefer this to wax because it's faster for me and there's no "yanking" the strips off which I did find more painful.

I'd be so interested in trying something like this - I am not hairy at all - in fact could probably count the hairs on the bottom of my legs only and more towards the ankles---like maybe 15 per leg---but still shaving is a pain.....speaking of - how is it really?????????? Does your hair have to be of a certain length in order to use it? like waxing? Do you have to wait until the hair is of a certain length before you do it again? Sorry for the questions....but this intrigues me :)

LOL Linda we're probably "hairy sisters"! You don't have to wait for the hair to be as long as with waxing with this and the fact that it's so fast to use I spring it out once a week just to make sure I don't have stray hair here and there.

The pain really isn't that bad, truly! It's like what I wrote in response to Gio's comment. It was more painful on my underarms and the area did feel sensitive for 30 min or so but that's about it. If you decide to buy one just go to Sears or The Bay where you can return it is ever you feel it isn't for you. Definitely worth a try in my book! xoxo

I have a braun, an older model. I have one for the face and one for the body. I use the face one but for the legs I shave, much faster.

Oh for the face! For some reason that scares me.

Ohh I need this in my life! I use a plain old razor and it's so time-consuming. I never really looked into other options (although I tried Nair wax strips which did nothing for me). I will have to check this one out, sounds so good! Thanks for sharing!! :)

This is really a nice option Natalie and I'm thinking especially for winter when it's not so important to shave every day but this is good since hair doesn't have to be as long as with wax to work well.

Oh, hell no... lol. I've done that torture device before ..think I'll stick to waxing and shaving ;-)

I'm happy to hear that it works for you :-)
