Most Spring and Summer collections I've looked at have stunning options. quads, quints, palettes all more beautiful than the next. Problem is, the prices! For now, I don't want to invest too much money and except for a few, I'm not sure they would transition well into Fall. So, for brighter seasonal colors I figure why not have a look at the drugstore?
Revlon's The Pacific Coast Spring 2013 Collection by famed makeup artist Gucci Westman is just amazing! To think I'm saying this about Revlon is quite a revelation!
Why? I haven't purchased Revlon makeup in ages! Oh well I did get a Lip Butter that I do love but for some reason I haven't been attracted to their other makeup. I don't know if it's the advertising campaigns or the way the makeup is presented but somehow I always pass on it. Some looks gimmicky. To me anyway.
Today at the drugstore, seeing the display of the Pacific Coast Collection, which by the way was practically empty, I noticed the quads and they where reduced. Under $10.00.
Here I'm holding both quads. Sea Mist on the left and Free Spirit on the right.
I'm also holding a Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya that I thought I would purchase but I changed my mind.
Why didn't I buy it? I may have no choice but to go back and get it because it's just lovely!

This quad is enough to make me start to wear eye shadows again, in a big way!

Sea Mist
A soft coral, a light blue that at first glance may appear like sky blue but is more minty, a beautiful deep purple. This was a surprise for me since I honestly thought it was a dark grey. Finally a beautiful deep green.
The colors are not that pigmented on first application but are buildable. Here I've gone over a few times using the sponge applicators. This is the best I could come up with as far a swatches are concerned. This is with sun and they do appear shiny but they're not except maybe the light coral which is meh for me. They have a satin finish. Sparkle and me don't get along so much but this is perfect! One thing that surprised me, no powder fall out, even with the sponge applicator.
Here is how Revlon recommends applying them...
Pretty but it doesn't work so well on me. I stretch both the purple and green a little more on the lid and the light coral, well, doesn't suit me much. Too light for my taste, too satiny to apply the way seen here. For me it works better as a highlighter, either close to the eyebrows of the inner corner of the eye.
I have green eyes and these colors are just perfect for me. This quad will likely be my go to for Summer. This is also the perfect example of how colors can differ from the web to reality. Had I seen this only online, I would have passed on it.
Here is the reason why I never buy makeup off the internet...
From Revlon's website, he colors look nothing like the real thing!

Melissa created two nice looks with these quads and also shows the four Lip Butters that are part of this collection. You'll understand why I regret not getting Juicy Papaya.
